Increasing slowness

I've noticed that the game is getting slower and slower the more I play it.  Not in a single session, but in a single campaign.  I'm wondering if there are more and more ships being generated.  I popped into TC-101, and there were DOZENS of pirates in the asteroid belt.  I don't know if I could ever clean them out...

Is everything running slower or just certain parts? Were the pirates by any chance a pirate fleet?

It seemed like everything was running more slowly  I particularly noticed it in the autopilot.

I couldn't tell if it was a fleet--there were several draymans and a zillion Talons :)

Could be that more fleets have been built and game resources are being spent on tracking and moving them. But I don't think that should create such noticable slowdown, unless you're on a really slow computer.

It's not too slow a computer.  A laptop of 2009 vintage.
