saving games

I would love a more sophisticated save system.

At the very least, there should be a shortcut key to the save dialog box. Better yet, a button to press to quicksave. Even better, quicksave would advance by one save slot each time ... The best: autosave every time you take off from a base. A new slot would be used each time and it would automatically be named with the base you just left, and maybe how many missions you have on the go.

Yes, me too. It was discussed here and there but I'll write it all in one place:
1) autosave - two independent slots for autosave directly before ship's launch (made when player hit "start") and after landing,
2) quicksave - one independent slot for quick save (F8 ) with option for quick load (F9),
3) 10 slots for manual save like present solution (so far it's enough)

It shouldn't be possible to manually save and overwrite in slots for auto- and quicksave. During manual save slots for "auto" and "quick" shouldn't be visible.
