Hostile Takeover doesn't use any CPU at all (almost) on my laptop.

The Star Citizen campaign is over and it has broken the record as the most successful crowd funded project. They raised more than $6 million!

I've lost my mind becuase I've pledged that damn 60 $... or maybe I've trusted to some info about single-player with "full option":

I too would love an update to AS. I'm sure CK will get to it when he can (sooner rather than later hopefully  :heh: ) But I'm also liking this Hostile Takeover demo....

Someone who's actually going single-player:

Although I tend to get worried when I feel like procedural generation winds up being too narrowly focused to bring real variety. Not sure if that's the case here or not.

I spent quite a lot of my working time today reading this:

Interesting to see. Seems like most games are being made, just not as fast as originally advertised.

Hard to say the actual percentages, but thankfully few major, funded projects have fallen apart as of yet. Delays are fine, and I sort of question any company that's not willing to put the dates way ahead just to be safe. Given the response a lot of companies have gotten they should feel confident that far-future release dates aren't going to be a major factor for backers.

He makes a salient point about them not advertising very well sometimes; paying too much attention to backers and not enough to potential-other-payer-people. Phrases...  hard.

I don't know if this interview has circulated on the Star Citizen site, but this is an interview with Chris Robers (Wing Commander, Star Citizen) and David Braben (Elite)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvPU8e2ezgo

part two and three are on the Elite: Dangerous kickstarter page.

OK, so... could someone explain Star Citizen to me? Is it basically a persistent online world where you could, conceivably, upgrade your ship, and not be stuck with the starter ship you had to get? Or are you choosing how you will go through the whole game?

I see the pricing and I'm not even sure what one is buying except dreams, and possibly careers for other people.

Yes, something like this. You can start with basic ship and manage to get even the big ones.

You can play and buy in-game anything. For real money you can't buy things not available in-game (it's not pay-to-win).

I've spend 110 USD for this... in hope to play it off-line (making own server). But I've got LTI (Life Time Insurance) which means if I'll lost my ship in game it will be recreated:

Meaning ship explodes and they replace it. But would that insurance also be a thing you could get in-game? This is so weird. It may not be pay-to-win, but it does sound like pay-to-skip. And I feel like their vagueness on what they're actually offering makes me just as scoogy about going into it as I felt when I first saw it.

AFAIK yes, you'll be able to buy "in-game" insurance for in-game money but it will be time limited (few months or something; not "lifetime"). Fair enough.

One thing worries me. Off-line version. I mean: setting up own server to play it like off-line game. RSI isn't obliged to make it... :pinch:

I wonder if that would even be possible without ruining it, even if you were doing it with some gray-area mods. I thought the economy and many of the encounters would largely be dictated by player-driven behaviors.
