I'd like to get this tested for difficulty, if possible.

It's supposed to be challenging, but not ridiculously hard. What I'm going for here is a quest that's a little more freeform than usual, so instead of "go here, do this" constantly, it "runs in the background" most of the time, so to speak, while the player galivants about the sector trading.

The trouble is that I'm not sure about the potential for attrition damage; as it is, there's two fairly difficult skirmishes in quick succession, and I'm wondering if it might be better to delay the second one by a few hours.

I like the idea of a quest running in the background. You could do really neat things with that. I'll plug it into Asciisector when I get home.

I'll test this quest right now, but I have a fully upgraded Pegasus which makes everything a breeze.   :(   I'm going to use a Demon instead.

I'm done the quest now, and it was pretty easy. The only hard part for me was to lure the commandos into a quiet area since I didn't want to get banned.

I found a bug, during the first skirmish after the guys attacked me and I re-landed on the base, they spawned on the base again but instead of attacking me they started running around everywhere so I had to kill them manually.   :|   Cool quest idea btw.

You don't get in trouble if they're in "kill +FirstName+" mode before you shoot them.

As for the other, I wasn't really expecting that. The idea was that if someone left, oh, a refinery station before the two minute 'mill around and look innocent' timer finished and the commandos went into 'SURPRISE!' mode, it wouldn't break the quest. I'll just add a trigger to reset things if the player takes off.

So I have, in fact, been fiddling with this; haven't actually done anything much, though, since I've been a bit preoccupied.

Think I've got the plot more or less sorted, and of late I've been toying with characters.

Think I've found a way for plot-relevant characters to react differently, depending on a player's words, actions, and the degree to which the players actions match his words.

So, for example, the same character met at the same time and same place, depending on the player's chosen path, could say very different things.

For example, if you'd told a Confed militia commander that you'd hunt down a notorious pirate, but for whatever reason decided not to, he wouldn't exactly be friendly if you had to have dealings with him later on in the story.
