Quest in Progress (No REALLY!)
« on: September 20, 2011, 10:56:07 PM »
You know that almost all spyish books & movies involve either a gun, microfilm, or a holodisk? (hint hint) 8)

Anyway: Say a guy gives you a holodisk (or is supposed to), and then the quest ends... Do you get to keep that holodisk? Basically:
Code: [Select]

   TRIGGER
      Event : Variable : VariableOne = 1
      Result : CreateItem : 1 : Holodisk : 100
      Result : QuestDone
   /TRIGGER

EDIT: Also, if anyone knows how to make halfway decent ascii art, can you PM me? I'm horrible at it.

If you have a picture/photo, you can turn it into ascii-art by using various filters/programs/online services.

Then you have to retype it into the asciisector format, since that one wont import, as far as I know. (I've never used it my self, other than playing around some).

Is the place item bugged? Can someone give me the supposed code for placing a single holodisk in the players backpack? I tried:
Code: [Select]
  TRIGGER
      Event : Variable : Var1 : 1
      Result : PlaceItem : Holodisk : Player : Backpack
   /TRIGGER

and also tried replacing placeitem with create item & all its attributes..
I even copied the code out of KHunt...

Ohh, I cant remember the exact syntax anymore. Is there anything in the manual about backpacks? Backpacks were added after a lot of the now available Quests were written, so this might be a bug, if you're doing what it says in the manual.

Quest items disappear after the quest is completed.

As to the placing of the item: Have you created the item before you try to place it?

Ah... I didn't know you had to do both create/place... Thanks.
(I thought placeitem was a newer createitem...)

With CreateItem, you tell the game engine which item number that item name refers to. Otherwise the game engine doesn't know which item number Holodisk is.

OK. Scene 3 done.... Next: Is there a way to fast forward time? And would
Code: [Select]
Result : RemoveItem : Holodisk remove an item from the players backpack?
