Clearing a planet (or area of a planet) for quests
« on: January 02, 2011, 02:01:10 AM »
A thought had occurred to me today. We have a command to clear a nav point for quests so our carefully planned scene doesn't go awry due to a randomly generated ship. Could we have the same for a planet? Maybe to clear a certain area of passerbys? I've had an idea for another quest but I'd hate to have the quest player have to fight thru everyone on the planet should "something go wrong"

Turn basin into a 'ghost base'

Or make it easier to kill someone if need be, not having to shoot ones way off planet.

That should be possible. I could probably just add a "ClearPlanet" tag that will not spawn anybody that isn't a shop owner or fixer/wingman/mission character.

That would be cool, but then I also thought i could pick a planet that has many "private" areas, but then if "things go awry" and ya have to "silence" an NPC, they might scream "HELP ME I'VE BEEN SHOT!" or the like...

Oh and now that I'm thinking abt it CK, when you do add the Capital Planet, have you thought of adding a quest command that can erase any charges or specific charges accrued during a quest?

Well, I'm currently leaning towards only being able to pay off all your fines at once, so that'd include all fines accrued before, during and after a quest. I was at one point considering being able to pay off only some of the fines, but that'd allow a player to build up a number of fines and then just pay off a few of them to keep the level just below the point that'll trigger bounty hunters being sent after you.

EDIT: I'm not really sure I answered the specific thing you were asking about regarding quests, but I currently have no plans to add a quest command that decreases fines/charges.

Wishful thinking then lol... and dang, i've got a long ways to go to rack up enough credits to pay my fines off...

Greetings!

Question: I see the note about a "Clearplanet" tag. Has this been implemented?  My quest has run into the snag. If I help my character, who is getting beaned by someone, the cops come and teach me a lesson.

If it has not, what about a tag that turns off police reaction?

Have a great Holiday!
