Everything Else / Re: Help please (New gpu)
« on: December 28, 2015, 10:01:40 PM »
I assume some people here are experienced with computers and more than me, so i have this old 2.66 Ghz dualcore intel computer with 4gb Ram and used an ati radeon hd 5450 gpu. But my irl brother just gave me a  gtx 550 ti zotac edition graphic card and i used to have a 300w power supply we changed it for a 650w power supply to handle this new gpu.

Maybe this will help:

While installing Nvidia drivers choose "custom" (with "clean install" option) and don't install 3D-shitthings nor "Geforce Experience".
You sir are my hero thaNK YOU SO MUCH

I assume some people here are experienced with computers and more than me, so i have this old 2.66 Ghz dualcore intel computer with 4gb Ram and used an ati radeon hd 5450 gpu. But my irl brother just gave me a  gtx 550 ti zotac edition graphic card and i used to have a 300w power supply we changed it for a 650w power supply to handle this new gpu. The old gpu drivers were uninstalled and i installed this new graphic card, it is even detected and everything and i even ordered the bios to go pci-e ext for it to make sure it works and i used programs such as speccy and gpu-z to detect it and see the temp√©ratures and everything is fine. But i can't even play Skyrim anymore i get like 3 fps or Something and even 2d games lag like hell for me now and if i leave my computer turned on for like 10-15 minutes it goes uber slow and laggy not only games. Is there a problem with my gpu or is it my processors that can't handle it ? My motherboard should handle it it's 16x and that's the requirement for the gpu too. I'm out of my mind and been trying to figure this out for many hours now. Help please!

Edit: Windows 7 32-bit

I'm curently flying a cruiser with 4 turret mounts and 3 torpedoe launchers, it's satisfying. There are many different ships and it depends on the perks you picked and your character progression too, i specialized in missiles and torpedoes but some people prefer to specialize in drones which are basically fighters for example.

Looks interesting. Does he have a demo?
Sadly there is no demo because on Steam you can refund any game Under 2 hours of playtime but i swear it's amazing. I have about 30 hours of playtime and can say it's really addictive, if you like the space genre. I know some people aren't into space games tho!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/414950/ Greetings fellow Ascii sector friends i had the chance the beta-test this little gem coming out in a few days, i recommend it deeply :D If you're into oldschool space games that's even better!

Is this when running in fullscreen? OpenGL apparently doesn't like getting screenshotted when running in fullscreen.
Yes in fullscreen

Change to windowed mode using "Options" (unfortunately Alt+Enter doesn't work so far) and hit Alt+PrintScreen. It'll make screenshot of (entire) active window only. Even if you can see only some part of this window.
Thanks :D

General / What skill makes me better with Stun rod?
« on: November 07, 2015, 04:26:41 PM »
Old player here who forgot some basics, i been luring space pirates aboard my ship/boarding their ships. I'd like to be more efficient with the stun rod so i can enslave those sneaky boys, but whenever i use the stun rod doesn't seem to raise any skill. Any help please?

Greetings i feel the only thing we need is to fix the Bounty/pay our fine and Ascii Sector would feel like it's 100% complete.

Yeah, I'll try to get the capital planet where you pay off fines added for the next version. I can probably take a week or two off from working on Hidden Asset around Christmas time.

Wow awesome that's like a Christmas gift Hehe, I have noticed whenever i hit print screen to take screenshots of ascii sector in this new version it takes a screenshot of my desktop instead of the game

Greetings i feel the only thing we need is to fix the Bounty/pay our fine and Ascii Sector would feel like it's 100% complete. At least for me it feels 98% complete. I wished i was a pirate at times but could fix my Bounty and would feel better when/if this ever gets updated. I know you're working hard on your new game tho btw it looks lot of fun i will be sure to grab a copy of it when it's complete, i love stealth games and isometric games are almost rarity nowadays

With trading style games I'm always on the lookout for a decent simulated economy that's interesting to interact with. How is Cosmonautica in that regard?
I remember it was hard to trade because the market changed or got depleted of items but it was way early access, i don't know how it is now ;o but i'll let you know if i get back into Cosmonautica. Also i'd like to note another space sim, Evochron Mercenary. It has been in development even after its release on Steam and got way more things to do than Elite Dangerous

Cosmonautica:

"- The police are looking for a xenomorph with one eye called Murphy.
- What is the other eye called?"

 ;D

Hmm... That SIMs thing looks strange to me... but it still looks funny!

Greetings :) i own Cosmonautica ever since day 1 of early access on Steam, and it's pretty great and lots of fun, there's even Cosmonautica for androids i ought to buy it on my phone soon

Would be cool if there was a way to make local money. Like in mining places you could help mine on the ground. Maybe recognize patterns in the rock for the maximum chance at precious metals, which gives a higher bounty. On refinery stations you could transport chemicals from one machine to another. Farming worlds would have you running a combine up and down a grain-filled screen, trying to steer around rocks. Pleasure worlds might have you serving customers somewhere. The bigger worlds might have a variety, maybe a job board that includes those above plus others.

Either that or there could be an insurance fund that you can tap once. It keeps growing in amount over time, so you could spend a long time in a hotel for example (or a shelter if you can prove you're broke), then you can tap into the fund once it reaches enough of an amount that you could buy a jump drive or whatever it is you want.
Wow that's a brillant idea ;)
