Ok, seriously, I like the idea of a record of past offences. But for organisational purposes, I think a separate tab for them would be slick.

I've always wistfully thought of the benefits of being able to transfer a prisoner on or off of a ship. Maybe to keep it from being a get-rich-quick-smuggling-slaves situation, an NPC could only be transferred on or off of the player's ship if that NPC was captured in space.

Er, about the bows... they'd be a lot of fun. Maybe crossbows should fit under the rifle skill since they are similar in aiming/firing, whereas a compound/whatever bows would kinda need a skill their own.

But the newest JRE is always readily available for everyone. And besides, it's only the Java language version that counts, not the JRE release. For instance, if you install the Java 1.6 JDK (Java Development Kit) then any software you make will be compatible with any Java 1.6 JRE.

Java is extremely widespread now, and even if somebody has to upgrade their JRE from v1.5, etc. to use a piece of software, it's no great loss and shouldn't be enough of an issue to deter very many users at all.

@VincentFirePony: If you're interested in 3D Java game development, check the Java Monkey Engine (JME for short). Yeah, I know, the name sounds wacky, but it's a GREAT tool. I haven't actually used it myself since I never can find time to write games (or much else code for that matter :() but it looks very slick.

Yeah, it just lets drive at anyone who's mad at you for whatever reason, be it because of faction, accidental (or intentional) shooting, etc.

Yup. Besides what Pelaeon just mentioned, there's one that hangs around the new naval base. I forget the name of the system though.... it's one of the new ones added in v0.6.6.
